Colleges of Coimbra

The former colleges of the University of Coimbra, belonging to religious orders (regular colleges) or destined to accommodate students from outside the city (secular colleges), were all extinguished by decree in 1834. The buildings were subsequently sold, transformed and adapted to other functions - some even demolished, partially or totally.

The analysis on the university colleges developed by the students aim to reconstitute the buildings in their original state or at some stage of their functioning as colleges - using, for this, drawing as an instrument of analysis, testing and representation.
